Mandate Solutions for AIS 140
The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and MORTH published the Automotive Industry Standard 140, often known as AIS 140, as a set of guidelines for all public transportation systems to develop an intelligent transportation system in India.
- Required by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) in 2018 for all vehicles with yellow board registration to have vehicle tracking devices (VTD) with panic buttons
- Device certification by ARAI & ICAT
- A command centre to monitor the emergency response vehicles
Vehicle data will be sent to 3 IPS by April 2018: 1 government IP, 1 emergency IP, and 1 private/vendor IP. Infrastructure, finances, politics, and other factors all contributed to the delay.
